Chicago hotel wraps $150M renovation

The Hyatt Regency Chicago has completed a $150 million renovation of its 2,032 guestrooms and suites along with the Regency and Crystal Ballrooms.

“As we celebrate 50 years in 2024, we're thrilled to unveil a new chapter in our hotel's story,” Hotel Manager Mark Wagner said in a statement. “As the largest hotel in Chicago, we look forward to offering guests elevated accommodations, alongside fresh meeting and networking spaces.”

The updated guestrooms have an open design and contemporary furniture. The city’s history is represented in art installments throughout the property. Design elements feature graphic patterns of Chicago’s Art Deco, while the color palette pays homage to Chicago’s Greystones.

The Regency and Crystal Ballrooms have modern finishes and a neutral color palette. The meeting and event space renovation includes new architectural lighting, flooring, wall coverings, bathrooms, furniture, and curated artwork in prefunction spaces. Designed by Ealain Studio, the refreshed spaces take cues from Chicago’s urban heritage, expressed through greystone colors that pay homage to the city and art installments that represent 360 years of events in Chicago’s history.

Planned renovations to the Grand Ballroom, in addition to several smaller event spaces, are slated for completion in 2025.
