U.S. hotel performance numbers tick upward

U.S. hotel performance increased during the week of April 3-9 from the previous week, according to STR's latest data.

For the week of April 3-9 (percentage change from comparable week in 2019):

  • Occupancy: 66.4 percent (-4.7 percent)
  • Average daily rate: $150.45 (+10.6 percent)
  • Revenue per available room: $99.93 (+5.4 percent)

In comparison, for the week of March 27-April 2 (percentage change from comparable week in 2019):

  • Occupancy: 64.1 percent (-6.4 percent)
  • Average daily rate: $145.74 (+11.7 percent)
  • Revenue per available room: $93.48 (+4.5 percent)   

Top Markets

Among the top 25 markets, Tampa, Fla., saw the highest occupancy increase over 2019 (+6.2 percent to 84 percent). Minneapolis experienced the largest occupancy decrease from 2019 (-29.5 percent to 51.4 percent).

Miami posted the largest ADR increase over 2019 (+49.6 percent to $328.35).

The steepest RevPAR deficits were in San Francisco/San Mateo (-51.9 percent to $121.19) and Minneapolis (-44.8 percent to $60.25).
